Lokve, Gorski Kotar
Gorski kotar offers a perfect refreshing green oasis in the heat of summers and adrenaline packed snowy adventures during winters. A safe haven in which you run away from the city noise and work stress. Even though civilization is very close, Lokve remain loyal to itself. It is a silent, quiet, almost isolated place, hidden in a dense forest. And its charm is spiced up by the picturesque Lokve Lake, secret forest paths and parts of the Louisiana Road, which tells enchanted stories dating back to the early 19th century.
The holiday house Mountain Paradise awaits its guests at just one hour drive from Zagreb and half an hour from Rijeka. The seaside is only 40 km away, a scenic 45 minutes’ drive. This is of course, if you chose not to stop by the Lokve Lake first, knowing that the sea will wait. The Lake is, in fact, only a few minutes away from the holiday house Mountain Paradise, positioned at 750m above sea level, a paradise of its own.
For hikers, bikers, motorists, and riders of all kinds, Mountain Paradise is a perfect starting point for exploring the many attractions of Gorski Kotar. It is close to the Risnjak National Park, (a name given after a Bobcat), where the forest life is blooming at its best. Nearby are also protected landscapes, natural reserves, parks and similar gorgeous jewels: the source of the Kupa River, the White and Saddle Rocks (cro. Bijele i Samarske stijene), the Green Stream (cro. Zeleni vir), the Lokvarka Cave, the Golubinjak Forest, the Devil's Passage (cro.Vražji prolaz) and the Kamačnik. Many wish to experience breathtaking sceneries from one of the many gorgeous mountain viewpoints: Preradović peak, Japlenški peak, Kavran’s Rocks, Eagle’s Rock, Špicasti peak and others. None of the above excludes a search for mushrooms, hunting, fishing, biking, hiking or rafting. Those who want to be less active can always put their hiking shoes at rest and take a dip in the Lokve Lake during summer months.
